The Ovary Office was founded by V.Kali, the poetry director at The World Stage. The Ovary Office features black female poets who read strong, activist-based, shameless poetry that places the pussy, front and center (so to speak.) We read in a “court-like” setting bringing up “witnesses” or demanding “order in the court.” The group’s first performance was last year’s LitCrawl. The Ovary Office was featured at this year’s Pasadena Lit Festival in June. Features include founder, V Kali, project director Pam Ward, Bridgette Bianca and Jaha Zainabu. The host venue is the World Stage, located off Crenshaw along the new metro line in Leimert Park. Leimert Park is considered the black art mecca of Los Angeles and is a music and literary art venue that has operated in Los Angeles for over 28 years.www.theworldstage.org
