Celebrating the Black Aesthetic through the Written Word
To conclude Black History Month of 2019, this reading will feature a host of poets and writers who will discuss the genius, the necessity, and the future of the Black artist. This reading celebrates the Black imagination and how it manifests as inspiration for social movements as well as art. This is not an ART-for-ART's-sake reading. Whether they are African American or not, these poets will explore the vast and complex contributions of African Americans, and how African American exceptionalism is daily and not a one month or once a year phenomenon.
